SMPS Recognizes Samantha VanSchoick as 2024 Impact Business Developer of the Year

SMPS is pleased to announce that Samantha VanSchoick has been honored with the 2024 Impact Business Developer of the Year Award. Samantha, a member of SMPS Connecticut, accepted her award during Amplify A|E|C, the Society’s annual conference, on July 25, 2024, in Salt Lake City, UT.

Samantha, who’s vice president of strategic partnerships at CIL, becomes the first-ever SMPS Impact Business Developer of the Year. This SMPS award recognizes an outstanding business developer with 6-10 years’ experience.

At CIL, a nonprofit real estate development and consulting organization, Samantha seeks out opportunities to build affordable, accessible housing. She believes that the right partnerships can create a world where all people have access to quality housing that enhances independence in neighborhoods of their choice.

When Samantha started at the firm, she prioritized creating marketing materials that could be used as a foundation for business development. This approach led to consistent growth in her career and in CIL’s business. After three years, she was promoted to director of strategic Partnerships, and given a seat on the four-person leadership team with the CEO, CFO, and VP of real estate development. After two years at director, she was promoted to vice president in recognition of her contributions.

Samantha is passionate about leading by example, demonstrating the path to business growth and fostering strong relationships. She has also participated on accessible housing panels as a subject matter expert, most notably with The National Council for Disability. Samantha is a past-president of the SMPS Connecticut, a Leadership Greater Hartford Quest 2018 Graduate, and was named a 40-Under-40 Outstanding Woman in Construction by the Professional Women in Construction.

“Sam has been an inspirational leader at CIL, spearheading a strategic expansion into new markets, significantly enhancing CIL’s nationwide profile, and forging valuable connections with new clients. Additionally, Sam shares her communication expertise, frequently coaching colleagues on navigating complex interactions with clients, funders, and regulators, thereby increasing our collective effectiveness and impact.” – Chris Canna, Vice President, CIL
