SMPS Recognizes Steve Osborn With Its Highest Honor

SMPS is pleased to announce that Steve Osborn, PE, SE, FSMPS, CPSM, has been honored with the 2026 Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award (WCMAA). Steve, a member of SMPS Indiana and founding principal of CE Solutions, accepted his award during Amplify A|E|C this July in Las Vegas.

The Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award recognizes individuals whose careers exemplify the advancement of marketing in the AEC industry through leadership, education, innovation, and service. Steve Osborn’s career reflects these principles through nearly five decades of work that have shaped his firm and the profession.

Steve has contributed to education across academic institutions, industry associations, and professional services firms. His influence has spanned classrooms, conference rooms, even boardrooms and mentoring conversations. His approach has been consistent: to prepare professionals to think critically, lead responsibly, and understand how their work fits into a broader system.

Across many platforms and settings, he has advanced the idea that marketing is a leadership discipline grounded in research, alignment, and client insight. Within CE Solutions, Steve embedded marketing at the leadership level, shaping strategy, culture, and long-term direction. This approach informed firm-wide visioning, client experience programs, and branding efforts designed to ensure consistency and trust.

He has also mentored numerous professionals into leadership roles within SMPS and the AEC industry. His mentorship focuses on clarity, listening, and helping others define success while building systems that support growth. His mentorship style reflects the same thinking that guides his business decisions: address forces early, provide clarity, and support others.

Steve’s civic leadership includes service with Christel House Indianapolis Charter School, the ACE Mentor Program of Indiana, and the Indiana Construction Roundtable, reinforcing his belief that professional success carries responsibility to the community. He has also been an active SMPS member since 1993, helping to shape SMPS Indiana and holding numerous leadership positions within the Society.

Barbara Shuck, FSMPS, CPSM, noted that “Steve does not just support the AEC profession. He strengthens it. His influence is lasting, and his commitment is real.”

That perspective is echoed by Craig Galati, FSMPS, CPSM. “Steve has combined technical expertise with strategic marketing skill to transform his firm from humble beginnings into one of Indianapolis’s most respected engineering practices. Steve is also an extraordinary volunteer and mentor. His contributions to SMPS are countless, and the number of professionals he has guided over the years is truly remarkable.”

Across research, leadership, communications, and innovation, Steve’s career demonstrates sustained impact on firms, individuals, and the AEC industry. His work continues to shape how marketing is understood and practiced across the profession. He hasn’t just contributed to professional services marketing; he has helped engineer a foundation built to last.

Congratulations, again, to Steve Osborn, PE, SE, FSMPS, CPSM, for being honored with the 2026 Weld Coxe Marketing Achievement Award.
