What motivates you to volunteer your valuable time to SMPS?
Our industry is pretty unique. Most of us, including me, fell into it by accident. SMPS was my go-to resource in the early years. It helped build my confidence, build my network, and most importantly learn that I was not alone in my struggles in my day-to-day job. My network was built by getting involved. Now I feel like it’s my time to give back to others starting out in the industry.
As a past chapter president, which HQ resource did you leverage most and how did that benefit your chapter?
This was a hard one. I had to miss the leader training, so I reached out a lot during my presidency. I think the resource I have used the most over the years has been membership. Getting that start-up membership box of goodies every year to have at a meeting and give out to members is a great benefit both to our members and reduces our chapter expenses. Finance and contract reviews have also been very helpful.
