SMPS Recognizes Duncan Robertson as 2024 Emerging Leader of the Year

SMPS is pleased to announce that Duncan Robertson, CPSM, has been honored with the 2024 Emerging Leader of the Year Award. Duncan, a member of SMPS Idaho, accepted his award during Amplify A|E|C, the Society’s annual conference, on July 25, 2024, in Salt Lake City, UT.

Duncan becomes the first-ever SMPS Emerging Leader of the Year. This SMPS award honors rising marketing professionals who are demonstrating exceptional leadership at their firm. Duncan, director of marketing and business development at Tamarack Grove Engineering (TGE), counts many accomplishments in his career including recognition for multiple design and industry awards and for helping to launch SMPS Idaho.

At TGE, Duncan was hired to drive business communication and marketing and after a year-and-a-half was promoted to business development and marketing manager. At the firm, Duncan leads BD strategy, fostering alignment and accountability across the team. He mentors colleagues to enhance their BD skills and networks, contributing to the firm’s overarching goals.

Outside the firm, Duncan demonstrates leadership by co-founding and serving on the board of ACE Mentor Idaho, addressing educational needs of the A/E/C community in the region. His participation in fundraising events such as the Golf Tournament and ACE Idaho Luncheon, and his role in facilitating final presentations, trade shows, and scholarship/awards programs, has been pivotal in growing the chapter. Within SMPS, Duncan also sits on the 20204 Amplify A|E|C Conference Committee as a program lead.

“What strikes me most about Duncan is his excitement for marketing, SMPS, and the future of our industry. It’s sincere and authentic—not just in what he gets out of it, but also his passionate drive to give back to the community. He takes every moment and immediately thinks about how he can take that learning and experience back out there and make it even better,” said Sarah Hoff, STO Building Group.

Congratulations, again, to Duncan Robertson, CPSM!
